Long-shanked or short-shanked. These are also designated by a number followed by an X and the word ΓÇÿlongΓÇÖ or ΓÇÿshortΓÇÖ. This number is how many sizes longer or shorter the shank is for its size.
The type of eye on the hook ΓÇö ringed, turned up or turned down ΓÇö where it is angled away from the point also determines the style. A double hook has two points to it, while a treble hook has three points.
